HEALING AFTER BIRTH - BODY MIND AND SOUL

Talk to Chaitanya about healing after your birth, regardless of how you feel your birth went, or how long ago it was.

Pregnancy and birth put such a weight on the mother's bodily and emotional resources. At Womb Temple we believe all mums deserve some bodywork and support regardless of how old their children are.

Chaitanya is able to assist you with common aches and pains that appear in the body after birth. Lower back pain? Pain with walking or other common movements? Discomfort or pain with sex? Leakage or prolapse? These symptoms which so many women struggle with are often linked to patterns of holding in the body and the emotions after birth and should not be considered normal although they are common.

If something from your birthing experience keeps playing on your mind or you're having pain or tension in your body, please come in for a session or book a zoom consult.

"Being a mum who had to have an emergency c-section, I felt so separated from my body and my self. Since having my session I feel whole. I feel like a woman. I highly recommend Chaitanya and her work, she is a gift to women" S.D. Scotts Head

HEALING FROM C_SECTION, EPISIOTOMY SCARS AND TEARS

If you delivered your baby via a c-section or had a tear or episiotomy there are additional reasons to work with a healer in your recovery.

Chaitanya is able to help you with healing your scars so that they dont create troubles for you now and in the future. Healing your scars can help lessen the chances of absence of feeling, back pain, pain in the abdomen, pain with sex and other common post birth complaints. It is very important not to ignore this aspect of healing. If you have scars from tearing in your perineum, talk to Chaitanya about internal pelvic healing and how you can work with massage at home to help the healing progress.

TEND TO YOUR SCARS!

Did you tear in birth or have an epesitomy or c section?

Due to the way that scars of any kind restrict movement, and adhere to surrounding tissues, they can cause painful problems in the short and long term after birth.Luckily it is easy to learn how to look after your scars and stay on a healing trajectory.

Scars can cause pain with sex, difficult urination or defecation or leakage, prolapse and pain in the lower back or at the site of the scar. To maximise the effectiveness of recovery and minimise the chances of ongoing pain and health problems scar tissue work is so important!

BIRTH TRAUMA

When parents in the birth room (or before or after birth) feel that things are out of control, that their lives are in danger, or they are not being listened to or respected or they are in terrible pain, this can register in the body and psyche as a traumatic experience. These days up to a third of births are officially classified as traumatic but really a birth experience is traumatic if the mother feels that it is.

My heart goes out to you if you've had a terrible or traumatic experience, no matter how big or small.

In response to trauma, the body and mind create holding patterns to allow us to move on with life, even if we havent finished processing the experience. This leaves many women in chronic physical and emotional pain that often doesnt resolve fully by only talk therapy or only clinical bodywork. Chaitanya works at the intersection of the emotions and the body, welcoming any emotions or revelations that arise in the healing process.

Although we cannot change what we have lived through, we can change how we feel about it in our bodies and minds - this is the healing work that most people come for.

Often women do not identify their births as being particularly traumatic, yet the impact of the pregnancy and birth is still held in the body. Working with Chaitanya to help release places of holding and reestablish strength and response in the pelvic floor and abdomen help resolve subtle trauma and reestablish a great connection with the energy of the birth and your baby.

POST-NATAL RECOVERY - DO YOU HAVE A PLAN?

Postnatal planning sessions - $80 in person or online.

Just as it takes time to prepare the fertile ground for pregnancy, and time to grow your special new best friend, it takes time to recover and readjust once your baby is born. Often mothers to be spend a lot of time preparing for the baby's arrival but perhaps not as much as they should in preparing for their postpartum recovery.

It is wise to follow the lead of all the old cultures and plan for an extended period of rest and recovery after birth.

It is said that the way a mama rests in the first 40 days after birth will determine her health for the next 40 years so it really is worthwile to make a plan!

Chaitanya is able to help you plan your postpartum period so that you can get all the rest, nourishment and bonding you need.

Post-natally mothers and babies are very open energetically - so sensitive and easily disturbed. It is important to take all care in bringing the mummy back together and nourishing the mother - baby bond. Practices that support this recovery are found in every ancient culture on the planet - it is well understood that this is a delicate time and that mama baby need special support at this time. Of course the new father is tired and integrating the big change that has happened - as are other family members. Practices like DEEP REST are deeply beneficial at this time.

Mandeep (pictured here with baby Robbie)  was cared for by Chaitanya with regular hot oil massage after her second birth . Her mother also came from India to cook her special easy to digest meals and to take care of her home and her eldest daughter while she recovered.

As soon as the first few days, the mother can start working (so) gently with yoga to help the body come back together - starting just with breathwork and gentle pelvic floor work, moving in the direction of the natural healing process. As time progresses the mother can incorporate gentle post natal yoga practices to help with moving in that healing direction as well as recovering from the strains that pregnancy puts on the body.

Although you may feel a burst of energy in the early postpartum, this should really be spent on making milk, feeding and bonding with your baby and resting/healing from the birth. To make this a reality, you may want to arrange some extra support for you and your family during this time. Post partum doulas are available that can help you with your household duties, take care of older children and prepare nutritious meals. You can also arrange your friends to give you support in ways that are simple for them to offer and you to recieve.

The digestive fire is very low after birthing, so foods that are warm and easily digested like soups, kitcharee and rice porridge are good options. Chaitanya is able to talk to you about preparing foods that are going to help you heal rather than put a heavy load on your delicate system at this time.

If you're expecting a new baba, please consider a postpartum planning session to learn how to get the most out of your postpartum by doing the absolute minimum!
